Hi, I'm Khaliyah. I"m 17 years old and I want to be a pilot. I am currently enrolled in Aviation at Green River Community College's Ground school obtaining my private pilots license, I completed private pilot gound school with a B+ and a 191 out of 200 on my FAA written test. The reason I want to participate in the Ninety- Nines is because flying has been my goal in life since a I took a field trip to Boeing Field in the 7th grade where they took my class up in a Cessna150. As soon as we took flight and I watched the gauges turn, needles move, and saw how beautfiful the view was, I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

My school life has never been quite what I wanted to be. I've transfered to 3 schools throughout my four years of high school, trying to find learning style that worked for me. I finally found a great program at Seattle University that helped me get back on track, to Middle College at Seattle University my junior year, and Auburn Mountainview for my senior year. Through my 4 years of high school I've encountered many challenges, mostly getting F's and D's up into my senior year, Through hard work and determination I've managed to change my D/F average to a A/B average and even get into the running start program for Aviation groundschool.
My mom is currently paying for my training and education so far. This award will help me pay for mypay tuition, fees and for flight hours towards my license.
