Amit Khanna

My research is aimed at utilizing my molecular biology expertise and supplementing it with animal model systems. I am using vertebrate, invertebrate and cell culture systems to describe complex interactions between commensal gut bacteria and host physiological functions. These efforts are supplemented with innovative scientific design and advanced molecular biology techniques. My career goal is to contribute in the field of human health by describing the effects of small molecules, diet and gut flora on human molecular pathways. Together these efforts will delineate the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of gut flora dependent regulation of health span and shall facilitate my bench side research in contributing to bedside care.
