Bio
With numerous execution of custom film sets under his belt, Production Designer Abhijit Khatu excels at transforming ideas & words into colorful landscapes that delight the eye & stir the senses. Born and raised in Mumbai, Abhijit Khatu's astute sense of design, form and function began at a very young age, when he often visited along with Elder brother & his classmate Nitin C. Desai to father Shashikant Khatu’s Ad Agency office at Nariman point. His father's Creative background as an Art Director (Launched Rasana, Mahabeej..), coupled with the aesthetic sensibilities of his mother, an interior designer & draftsman in PWD, forged the perfect amalgamation that encouraged him to fearlessly design and construct whatever he could imagine.

After studying G.D. Art at Raheja School of Art & completing the Production Designer Diploma, Abhijit decided to apply his creativity to the entertainment industry where he was welcomed into the film community and distinguished himself by winning World’s Largest Print Award.
Abhijit has successfully managed to balance his boundless visual creativity & love for design with a disciplined awareness of budgets, schedules & crew management. Luminaries such as Rajkumar Hirani, Devid Dhavan as well as diverse clients such as Sohail Khan Prod., G.S. Prod., Bony Kapoor Prod. have all relied on him to create spectacular, multidimensional sets, designs & environments.
‘Designing a movie is a little like painting a landscape in a hurricane’, whether he's designing a two-hour feature film, a 30-sec. television commercial, a music video, or an Award show, Abhijit possesses the rare ability to work calmly & methodically through would-be problems while maintaining the vision & confidence necessary to see the finished product – long before it has been completed. It is this combination of equanimity & imagination that allows him to adapt quickly under pressure and lead his crew of talented artisans through the obstacles inherent in any creative process.
