Khiara McMillin

Khiara currently works as a Reputation Specialist at the company BrandYourself, helping people manage their online reputation through a set of digital skills. She is passionate about creating meaningful connections between brands and their respective audiences and believes everyone has the right to manage the information that’s used to define them on the world wide web.

She became intrigued by the art of communications during a study abroad trip in her undergraduate years. In this time, she became fixated on the common barriers people face while communicating internationally. More specifically, Khiara was focused on learning the different interpretations of nonverbal and verbal cues that are seen and heard in everyday conversation, especially during business communication.

After earning her degree, Khiara moved to NYC to pursue a graduate degree in a more specialized communications discipline. She was soon offered a position working as a research assistant in the graduate studies department at Baruch College while simultaneously working toward earning her MA degree in its Corporate Communication program. This opportunity eventually allowed her to travel abroad to Hong Kong and participate in a week long Corporate Communication Conference with top practitioners and academia from around the world. Passionate about travel and intercultural communication, this experience solidified her decision to dedicate all efforts to enter a communications career.

Formerly, she worked in a telecommunications company specializing in voice and data services. Here, Khiara was responsible for all brand marketing strategies and content creation. Specifically, some materials include: E-newsletters, E-books, blogs, press materials, social media content, media alerts and promotion of new products and services. Khiara was also responsible for redesigning the company’s website and realigning its mission and goals.

She also previously worked at the HART Agency, a boutique-marketing firm promoting several internationally recognized brands. Some clients include: ESPN Radio, Red Bull, Hawaiian Tropic, Svedka, Corona, Skyy Spirits, Patron Spirit Company, Bacardi, MillerCoors and others.

Khiara currently lives in New York City and loves every bit of it. In her free time, she enjoys reading books written by her favorite author, Oriah.
