Jackson Khouri
Teacher in Ottawa, ON
My six-word memoir:
Helping students achieve health and happiness.
Hi, I’m Jackson. I’m a teacher living in Ottawa, ON. My pedagogical approach centres around providing students with the best educational experience possible. This means, working to ensure student success by fostering creativity through innovative teaching practices (goal-oriented & academically diverse) and establishing an inclusive and safe learning environment. I do my best to be knowledgeable with regard to certain initiatives and action plans (e.g. Universal Design for Learning, We Rise Together & Culturally Responsive Education). An essential component of my teaching philosophy focuses on the facilitation of student achievement both academically and socially. This social aspect of achievement is, in my opinion, often neglected, but is critically important to our students’ success in life after school. Therefore, working to cultivate and strengthen a balance between traditional academics and certain soft skills (e.g. communication, critical thinking, self-motivation, etc.) serves as the foundation of my teaching practice.
I am OCT certified (since 2020) and I have received a Bachelor of Science Specialist degree from the University of Toronto as well as a minor in Philosophy. I am a fan of music, movies, and food. I’m also interested in arts and martial arts (specifically muay thai).
