Khulood is a strong advocate for youth engagement and has become a leader committed to building a stronger community in Ottawa.
After receiving the Service and Caring award from Youth Ottawa, she decided help share the incredible stories of Ottawa's youth by joining the planning committee. After Khulood completed the pilot for Citizen's Academy, a volunteer led organization that advocates for citizen involvement and ownership to encourage the public to make an impact in their community, Khulood volunteered her time to to join the curriculum development team to create a session revolving around the Ottawa Budget as part of Civic Boot Camp. This session was part of multiple that educated the public on how to have their voices heard in the city and what are the steps they can take and the resources they need to advocate for change.
Khulood worked as a Coordinator for Youth Futures; an innovative program at the University of Ottawa targeted at first generation high school students from families who are low income. She served as a role model to the youth while encouraging post-secondary education and planning and coordinating workshops and activities. She is currently working as a Healthcare supervisor at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.
Khulood has shown passion and dedication to giving back to her community and helping those around her through my volunteer work. Her efforts have been featured on Rogers TV, Metro News, The Ottawa Citizen, and Lounch out Loud podcast.
She does all this while in school to become a nurse at the University of Ottawa. She hopes to one day complete her masters to become a Nurse Practitioner and work in a community setting so she can continue to give back to others.
