Kiernan Gamel
Kiernan holds a Master's in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University with a concentration in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency. He is a licensed social worker (LLMSW), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) and Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC).
Kiernan has extensive experience in mental health diagnosis and treatment. For thirty years, he has specialized in the prevention and treatment of chemical dependency as a program director, lead counselor, addictions therapist, and substance abuse specialist. During this time, he has worked in a wide range of socio-cultural settings, such as in California at the Betty Ford Center and the Riverside County Substance Abuse Program; in the West Indies at Crossroads Center, Eric Clapton’s chemical dependency treatment center; and in Michigan at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Michigan Department of Corrections, and Family Services and Children’s Aid.
Currently, Kiernan works as a substance abuse specialist at Albion College in Albion, Michigan and as a program director at Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee & Hillsdale Counties in Michigan. In his position with Catholic Charities he oversees outpatient substance abuse services for three counties and seven Michigan prisons.
