Kilaye Karino

Program Director in Tanzania

Kilaye Karino is a global mental health and implementation science professional with a background in nursing, mental health, research, and community engagement. He has over 8 years of experience working in public health, research, and community-based initiatives in underserved communities across Tanzania.

He has experience designing and implementing multi-component programs focusing on mental health, HIV & AIDS, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, family planning, nutrition, sanitation, and sustainable livelihoods. He combines technical expertise with community leadership and a strong commitment to empowering women and young people through sustainable and locally led solutions.

Kilaye received his Master’s degree in Mental Health Nursing from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), where he is currently pursuing PhD training. He attended the Implementation Science Fellowship for Public Health Studies at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health funded by the NIH Fogarty International Center. He is also an SBS D43 trainee through the KCRI and KCMC–Duke University collaboration.

In addition, Kilaye is an Aspire Leaders Program alumnus under the Aspire Institute, a leadership development initiative founded at Harvard University to strengthen leadership capacity among emerging leaders working to create social impact globally.
