What does it mean to "live?" This is something I didn't think much about at 20 or even 40. But, it is becoming increasingly more important to me as I approach my twilight years... I am seeing myself move into the elder role that was once occupied by my parents and grandparents. I see my friend's parents aging and dying (mine are already gone) and I wonder did they get a chance to say and do what they came here to do. More than anything, I've learned that we were all put here to do something to carry our world forward. Perhaps we cannot change the world, but did we change the one person we could affect the most. Did I go through life holding on to all for what it was worth or did I extend myself an ounce beyond my family and my needs? I like to think that in my profession and my personal life, I have made a difference. I have told a child something that will make him want to be better. I have been the friend to others that I needed them to be for me. I have been more than alive for the time I was here!
