Kim Baert-mcgee

Kim has created music curriculums for numerous preschools such as: Loving Hands Montessori, the Children’s Center at Computer Associates and Bright Horizons at Motorola. These programs met once per week which included winter and spring concerts and graduation ceremonies. She introduced her students to instruments such as: xylophones, glockenspiels, rhythm sticks, hand bells, hand drums, recorders and piano. In addition to instrumentation she introduced several lessons in music history and global music such as: Native American, Chinese, Irish cultures. Her repertoire for singing always coincided with monthly themed lessons, such as: the continents, solar system, parts of the body, etc.
Kim founded her corporation Piano Inc. in 2005 (www.pianoinc.com), which provides piano instruction and introductory music theory for students of all ages. She currently has over 25 students. She prepares her students for NYSSMA solos and her focus is helping her students enter with their musical composition pieces in PTA Reflections, (a national competition for the arts) She has completed her first piano instruction manual which is in the process of being copyrighted. In addition to her corporation, she has been employed by the Town of Huntington as a piano Instructor since October of 2003. She teaches 8 week introductory piano classes for fall, spring and summer programs. Her and her husband created a digital piano lesson app on the ipad which will approved by Apple in October 2013 (www.mini-maestros.com).
Kim has completed her MS degree in music education in December 2012 at Hofstra University. She studied piano under Blanche Abram. Her student teaching experience was at Southwest Elementary school and North and South Middle schools in Brentwood school district.
