A couple of years ago I received a new valve in my heart ( which is mechanical) plus a pace maker. I was born with an abnormal valve & developed symptoms at age 42. Seeking God every day and focusing on my blessings, instead of health challenges, provided me with enough strength and courage to keep moving FORWARD in my endeavors to positively impact the community.I’ve travelled locally & out of state : sharing my story of triumph & healing; at American Heart Association’s National Center : Dallas, Texas : ( July 2015): recently selected: National Volunteer Ambassador in the new AHA’s Heart Valve Disease Program; American Heart Association’s Lobby Day: Washington, D.C.( April 2013); You’re The Cure Advocate , Georgia State Capital , DeKalb County Board of Commission meeting, health fairs , churches, etc.
The purpose of MY JOURNEY: to help heart/stroke patients cope with the recovery process, & share my story of survival. Sharing words of encouragement to anyone coping with health obstacles..... Despite whatever you may face: find one reason to smile, connect with God on a daily basis, develop a support team, & never give up.
I thank God for placing the desire in my heart( December 2013) to create the collage: celebrating my recovery from heart valve replacement & two pace maker surgeries, promoting awareness & honoring every woman, man & child affected by heart/stroke disease. Several organizations : local & out of state plus my family, church ( children’s ministry), neighbors & friends donated the hearts. Unexpected blessings continue to come my way to support the project & I’m so grateful.
