Kimberly Petrovic

A Researcher with Hartford Hospital's Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology for over seven years, Kimberly Petrovic focuses on qualitative and quantitative studies involving hospitalized adult AIDS and HIV patients. Kimberly Petrovic also researches delirium and other neuropsychological conditions among patients at the hospital. She additionally holds affiliation with the Yale School of Nursing in New Haven, instructing nurse practitioner students.

Ms. Petrovic earned her MA in Medical Sociology & the Sociology of Aging at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, subsequently obtaining an MSN in Nursing at Vanderbilt University. From 2000 to 2004, she was a Nurse Practitioner with the State of Oregon, additionally undertaking graduate-level research in geriatrics and gerontology at the Oregon Health Sciences University.

Kimberly Petrovic entered the University of Connecticut (UConn) in 2003 as a doctoral student focused on the areas of aging, HIV/AIDS, and gerontology. Her research encompasses complementary and alternative medicine, as well as patients with mental and physical disabilities. As a Ph.D. student, Ms. Petrovic teaches a number of UConn clinical and didactic courses. From 2004 to 2008 she led the human development and potentiality-focused courses "Aging in American Society" and "Death, Dying and Bereavement", as well as clinical and didactic nursing courses.

Ms. Petrovic has contributed as Author and Co-author to the PubMed publishing site for the past eight years, notably authoring numerous research-based articles on neuropsychological conditions such as delirium and HIV/AIDS. She has also written articles on holistic, alternative, and complementary medicine, and on common disabilities affecting patients. In her free time, Kimberly Petrovic enjoys hiking, running, adventure sports, and windsurfing. She is a serious student of martial arts, working toward a second degree black belt.
