I think the new learning that I have gained about Universal Design for Learning is what has really stuck with me and continues to resurface in connections that I have been making to others' posts. Creating my newsletter for teachers about the connections between Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated instruction really gave me an opportunity to understand where this ideology came from. Reading about Dr. David Rose and watching his videos during his presentations in Alberta really helped to consolidate my understanding of UDL. I think that my post comments over the course have regularly come back to the idea that by making changes in order to support students with special needs can help all students in the classroom. Making those changes are beneficial to enhance each students learning and provides them with a safe and accepting learning environment. I think that this new learning has improved my commitment to students to student learning as well as further developed my professional knowledge. I think that learning and covering information about the different exceptionalities has also added to my professional knowledge, practise and leadership. I feel more capable of having discussions with parents and how to direct them in their rights way to proper resources and also feel more confident in future dealings with my ISRC and ISSP team. Overall I feel my teaching practise has benefited greatly from this new found knowledge and I'm positive going into this school year that I will try suggestions and teaching strategies that I have gathered from my colleagues during the course.
