Artist Statement
Design, in many ways, is about being consistent. Consistency is necessary to promote a brand and market a product, but for me, at times, it can feel like I’m being suffocated. When creating this series of work I’ve focused on ambiguity and chance; collaborating and responding to materials, using instinct, developing new processes of adding paint to paper or canvas and pushing new color combinations. The artworks are about freeing my mind and allowing me to focus on two things I love: process and experimentation. Intuition and time is used to determine if an artwork can hold up on its own, if not, it is painted over and reworked until it feels right.
