KIM KACHMANN is a journalist, editor and the principal of FINAL Edit, a consulting business that specializes in professional writing, editing, and marketing services. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, PBS, DAME magazine, theIsland Packet, Journal Gazette, Indiana University Daily, Columbia Journal and the 100,000-circulation lifestyle magazine, Hilton Head Monthly.
She has authored three books published by Evangel Press: Welcome to Your Mind-Body (2007), The Secret of the Non-Diet (2009), and Narcotics: The Highway to Hell (2013).
As a columnist, health editor and project director for Monthly Media, she writes feature articles, essays and profiles, manages the health editorial calendar and leads business and marketing initiatives to reach new audiences and develop consumer-driven content across all platforms.
She developed conference themes and content as Program Director of the Hilton Head Institute, where she advised the startup Board and positioned the institute as a hub of intellectual thought and new ideas.
As Vice President of AOL International Content and Programming, she started up and led a department to mentor joint ventures on editorial best practices and tactics for marketing online content.
As Director of the nonprofit, Speak Out USA, she developed several bipartisan congressional hearings with the First Lady and U.S. Senators fighting for health care reform. She won national media attention that led to new health insurance policies covering children with long-term illnesses.
As a legislative aide on Capitol Hill, she advised a U.S. Senator and Representative on policy issues, pending legislation, and constituent views. Her initiatives led to a new law fighting crimes targeting the elderly.
She earned a MA in American Studies from Columbia University, and a BA in English and Political Science with honors from Indiana University. She speaks fluent Spanish.
