KIMBERLY TOWNES

Kimberly Townes' artistic style is a visual dance between art and science. Her work has toured internationally in festivals and showcases including the SFF-rated Athens International Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival in Greece, the Congressional Black Caucus 2011 Annual Legislative Conference Film Series and the American Film School Co-Production by INCINE/IBERGENTE in Quito, Ecuador.

Kimberly earned numerous distinctions during her matriculation at UCLA, including the Edie and Lew Wasserman Production Grant, Felicia Henderson Screenwriting Award, Four Sister Filmmaking Scholarship, Bill and Melinda Gates Inspiring Action Grant for her documentary PLANTING HOPE and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Filmmaker Grant for her UCLA thesis film ZERO.

In 2011, PLANTING HOPE won the IFC/ Time Warner Cable short film contest and was broadcast on Time Warner Cable's Free On Demand Channel.

Kimberly holds a B.A. in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She also studied Production Design at the American Film Institute. Currently, she is a candidate for a M.F.A degree in Directing at the University of California-Los Angeles. Both film schools were ranked among the top five programs in the world as cited by HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
