I'm entering my tenth year of teaching early childhood education. I spent my first nine years teaching for Head Start, but for the 2013-2014 school year I'm making a huge career shift. I'll be teaching a self-contained special education preschool classroom. It will be made up almost entirely of three year olds with varying special needs, with a few peer models mixed in. I'm also going to be going back to school to add the Unified Endorsement to my ECE degree. Writing IEPs will be a whole new challenge for me, but one that I am really excited about. It's also my new classroom's first year in the local elementary school it's located in, so it's definitely a year of firsts! I plan on using this blog to document all the ups and downs of the journey.
