Greetings! I appreciate your interest in learning more about me. I am a proud native of North Carolina who has had the opportunity to live in many places and meet many people. After receiving my B.A. in English Literature and Women's Studies, I taught English as a Second Language for the Japanese Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET) in Japan. I also later taught in public and private schools in the USA and for a private school in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I have been fortunate to work in Education, Human Resources, Nonprofit Case Management, Customer Relationships, Management and Administrative roles, and as an Entrepreneur. These experiences allowed me to adapt to changing circumstances and appreciate diversity of thought and culture. When I move into a community, I like to get involved with the people and activities that thrive there. I believe in volunteering and serving within the community to get to know and support my neighbors. As an educator who attended a women’s college, a Breast Cancer and Thyroid Cancer Survivor who has navigated the healthcare system with and without insurance, and as someone who was once “working homeless” and indigent, I advocate for quality public education, policies that benefit women, children, families, and those with disabilities, for healthcare industry and justice system reform, as well as socio-economic equity and equal rights. I moved to Illinois in 2021 to pursue a Juris Doctorate from SIU School of Law; however, that has proved challenging over the last few years. I have faith in God and will continue to advocate for education, social equity, and equal justice while my next steps in life are determined. Please feel free to connect with me on my social media accounts.
