King Harvest

New York, New York

King Harvest had the classic hit Dancing in the Moonlight in 1973 and later worked with The Beach Boys for a number of years. They released their new album, King Harvest - The Lost Tapes in September, 2007 on Darbo Music. It is available as a digital download from iTunes, Amazon, and other internet music stores worldwide. King Harvest performed and toured in Europe in the early 1970's where they recorded Dancing in the Moonlight. It became a major US hit and in 1973 the band returned to America. They toured the US in 1973/74, with Jay Leno as their opening act. In 1975, Kip Cohen, head of A&R at A&M Records signed King Harvest to an album deal and hooked the band up with legendary songwriter Jeff Barry as producer. By this time, various members of the group were involved in The Beach Boys touring band and in recordings by the Beach Boys, and in fact it was in the Beach Boys' studio that the King Harvest Album (a collector's item - A&M SP 4540)) was produced, with Beach Boy drummer Bobby Figueroa. Carl Wilson & Mike Love sang background along with Peter Cetera of Chicago, and jazz great Charles Lloyd played a guest solo on one of the songs - Fly By. Dancing in the Moonlight has become an anthem of positivity worldwide and has been used in many TV commercials/programs and films in the USA and Europe. Most recently it was featured in Jackass Presents - Bad Grandpa and Bates Motel. As 2014 opens Dancing in the Moonlight continues to gain popularity with younger listeners as they discover great music from the 70s that transcends generations. King Harvest recently released their EP "Dancing in the Moonlight 2 - Old Friends" on i-Tunes.
