Once I was born in Poland and have been generally happy since then. But after a while, for some wild reasons, I fell for Finland and eventually moved there. Still joyful, even more maybe, I'm keeping myself busy with exploring possibilities, searching for and taking chances, and – generally – getting to know myself. I haven’t been very much striving for any particular vision of myself but, essentially, my life revolves around several core themes.
Firstly, I graduated from the international programme in media and communication at University of Helsinki, Finland. My thesis focused on Pinterest as a creative community for women. In more general terms, throughout my master studies, I’ve developed a strong interest in social media, especially as a site for people to exhibit creative acts. Overall, human aspect in media and communications (loosely referred to as media anthropology) excites me most! Yes, sounds over-elevated but I do nurture an inclination towards pompous style and round sentences. A firm belief in and an admiration for academic work, together with my being, reportedly, theoretical and analytical person, urge me to pursue further studies. I hope to be able to study the creative input of customers into sustainability brand storytelling in social media as a part of my PhD programme. Well, fingers crossed!
Secondly, communication not only is my field of studies, but also my great passion. Thus, I long for practice. Currently, I’m working as a communication assistant at HELCOM (Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission), the job that resulted in a number of practical skills and as well as a great interest in environmental protection and sustainability.
Thirdly, I’ve recently recognised my identity as a truly “Baltic Sea Region” person. The Baltic is one of the greatest and most vital resources we have, which I attempt to protect as a part of my work at HELCOM. There is a great potential residing in the people and countries of the region, which I appreciate and try to realise through participating in various projects and events.
And, of course, I still hold to being generally happy, especially in my private life.
Aha, "once" happened on July, 24th 1989. However, age is just a stupid number, huh?
