Anton Robinson

I was born and raised in Anaheim, Ca. After graduating high school at age 16, I attended Fullerton College for a brief time studying improv and theatre. At age 18 I began writing standup comedy. After a year of writing, I finally felt ready to take the stage and did. Unfortunately, living in Anaheim and not having a car put me at a distinct disadvantage. Merely a year and a half after starting, I grew disenchanted with bumming rides to open-mics/bringers. I decided to put my standup career on the back burner to start a sketch group.

In 2008, I formed The Shetland Enthusiast Collective with Erick Sarmiento, Vernon "Cheesey" Floyd, Stephen Macias, JJ Thomas and De'Anthony Luster. Erick and I were the core of the group, writing the sketches and performing most of the main characters together, while the rest of guys played bit parts and served as production crew. After writing twenty some odd sketches, recording nearly a dozen videos and producing an animated pilot (that never got animated), Erick left the group to focus on school and work. I wrote and recorded two more sketches before dissolving the group. Most of our work can be seen at funnyordie.com/antonanaheim.

Since 2008, I have been a student at Cypress College majoring in Human Services. I have made the President's List several times, served as Treasurer of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society, completed the Legacy Program and won Best Picture in the Cypress College Annual Film Festival. I am currently completing certification in Drug Counseling, Gerontology, Victimology, Conflict Resolution and Family Studies.

I currently have several projects in development for my website kingGOOBA.com including an event photography page, an interview web series, a podcast and two short films.

The name "Gooba" goes back three generations in my family starting in Harvey, Il. a South Suburb of Chicago. Originally given to my Great Uncle Turk, the name was a reference to his peanut (or goober) shaped head. Later, the name was passed on to my father, Anton Patterson (who also possesses a legume like nogin), whom christened me "Gooba" because I looked so much like him. The title "king" is self appointed, inspired by the Watch the Throne album which had a deep impact on me.
