Although I am not the most coordinated person in the world, I love sports. I have never been much of an athlete myself but I have always enjoyed watching sports. I tried my hand at basketball and soccer when I was little, but failed miserably. I didn’t make one basket or goal for the three years I played. However, some of my first memories involved the sports I would come to love. When I was three, I watched my cousin pitch for the Atlanta Braves and attended my first UGA football game. As I have grown up, my interest in sports has only increased. As the younger sister to a Division I college athlete, I have fostered a greater appreciation for student athletes and their hard work--both academically and athletically. Through attending many of my brother’s golf tournaments and even caddying for him once, I understand the devotion and determination athletes put into training and competing. I respect their ability to be powerhouses both on the field and in the classroom. College football season is my favorite time of year. You can find me cheering on the Dawgs, rain or shine. When I made the decision to attend the academically challenging University of Georgia, I was equally excited about the athletic attributes the University possessed. The school that I had loved my entire life was finally my school. I couldn’t wait for my first Saturday between the hedges as a student. As a result, when I discovered the University offered a class all about football, I eagerly signed up. This class turned out to be my favorite of my first semester in college as I impatiently awaited our weekly discussion. The course not only improved my knowledge about the sport itself, but I also learned about the impact spectator sports has on the overall status of a University. I hope to someday utilize my passion for sports in my field of occupation.
