Godstime Gowon, professionally known as KingRulion (formerly GodtimeRulion), is a Nigerian actor, filmmaker, director, editor, scriptwriter, forex trader, videographer, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and chief executive officer of RULION STUDIOS, a Nigerian film production company focused on producing high-quality films that showcase African culture, creativity, and storytelling to global audiences.

KingRulion became known for his early comedy and social media content before transitioning fully into filmmaking and cinematic production.

Early Life and Background

KingRulion was born on March 23, 2005, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He is originally from Okuagbe Town, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. He spent most of his early years in Benin City, where he developed a strong passion for entertainment, creativity, and visual storytelling from a young age.

Growing up, he faced several personal and financial challenges that helped shape his ambition and determination. Despite the difficulties he encountered during his childhood, he remained committed to building a successful career in entertainment and media production.

Family

KingRulion was raised in a close-knit family by his mother after the death of his father when he was 12 years old. His mother played a significant role in supporting and raising her children through difficult circumstances.

He has four siblings:

KingRulion completed his secondary school education in Nigeria and sat for both the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.

Although he was unable to continue immediately to university education, he stated that he plans to further his education after establishing a stable career and financial foundation.

Career

Early Career and Comedy Content

KingRulion began his entertainment career as a content creator and comedian on social media platforms. During the early years of his career, he created more than 1,000 comedy videos and online skits, gaining recognition for his editing style and creative storytelling.

As a video editor and visual creator, he incorporated:

into his productions to create engaging entertainment content for his audience.

Despite his success in comedy, KingRulion later explained that his long-term ambition was always filmmaking rather than comedy.

Transition from GodtimeRulion to KingRulion

In 2025, several of KingRulion’s social media platforms reportedly experienced major setbacks, including account restrictions, demonetization, and platform-related issues affecting his Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube accounts.

According to interviews and public statements, these events caused him to temporarily step away from content creation and reconsider the direction of his career.

In 2026, he announced his official return to entertainment under the new professional identity KingRulion, changing from his former name GodtimeRulion.

He stated that he no longer wished to be recognized primarily as a comedian or skit maker, but instead as a professional actor and filmmaker focused on producing high-quality films.

Following the rebrand, he launched new social media platforms and began rebuilding his entertainment brand under the name KingRulion.

Meaning of “Rulion”

According to KingRulion, the name “Rulion” means “Red Lion.” He explained that the name was personally created and developed by him as part of his creative identity and vision, and is not connected to any tribe or ethnic group.

RULION STUDIOS is a Nigerian film production and distribution company founded by KingRulion.
