King Timmons

Hey everybody, my name is King Timmons (I go by Carter) and I am originally from Suwannee, GA. I’m majoring in Economics and International Business here at UGA and am very excited for it.

Something pretty interesting about me is that my family and I have moved across the country the past few years. I lived in Suwannee for the first part of my life and grew up with pretty much all the same people. In 7th grade my Dad got a new job that moved us out to Fort Worth, Texas. We all loved Texas, but were only able to live there for a year before my Dad’s job moved us again out to San Jose, California. This was somewhat disappointing because as soon as we started to settle in and begin to make good friends we had to leave again. However, my family is very adventurous and we were all pretty excited to see what California had to offer.

I did all 4 years of high school in California at Los Gatos High School and made a strong group of friends. California was very enjoyable for the first two years, but when COVID hit it was very hard to do anything. My county was very strict regarding rules and lockdowns, therefore making it hard to really explore all of California. As soon as I graduated high school my family was ready to come back South, so we packed up again and are now living in Atlanta.

While moving this much was stressful at times, I am glad that we did it. I am able to say that I have friends across the US and its been fun seeing where all these people have ended up going to college. The connections I have made along the way will really benefit me in the future.
