I'm the first person of Turks and Caicos descent to launch a fashion technology brand. The inspiration for LINĒIJ™ can be traced to 1916, when my Nana (Great Grandmother) Lillian Delancy left her home of Blue Hills, Turks and Caicos, where she was a Seamstress to start a new life in America. Lillian became a teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District, where she taught Home Economics, and later became an entrepreneur. Lillian opened a boutique that made custom clothing for men, women and children - and passed her entrepreneurial spirit to her great granddaughter Kipenzi.

Los Angeles native Kipenzi Chidinma, Lillian’s great granddaughter, discovered her great grandmother’s collection of rare accessories and even some of her hand drawn patterns. It was this discovery that inspired Kipenzi to embrace her innate creative talents, and launch her accessories company. In addition to her extensive knowledge of and love of fashion, Kipenzi’s mother was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease. So she decided that it was time to do something she loves, and that would give her time to care for her mom. Kipenzi earned her M.B.A in International and Fashion Marketing - she has worked with companies such as Walt Disney, Just Fab, Yahoo, Yamaha, Nordstrom, and Melissa Masse to name a few.

LINĒIJ™ is a luxurious, sustainably sourced, bespoke, handcrafted accessories company with Caribbean influences, and global appeal. The collection is comprised of materials that were designated food sources first. LINĒIJ™ has sourced the finest materials from villages and farms in parts of South America, Asia, Türkiye as well as Europe. LINĒIJ™ is certified through C.I.T.E.S., the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, so your new staple accessory can be worn guilt free. The collection features portfolios, totes, handbags, weekend bags, and clutches; for those with discerning tastes, who adore luxurious accessories but don't want to sacrifice functionality, unique design, style, or sophistication.

The story behind the name…In honor of Lillian Delancy, her family and her Caribbean roots - Kipenzi decided to name her company LINĒIJ™, which is the phonetic spelling of lineage.
