I have a lifelong best friend, who is also known as my twin. Yes, there is two of me. Well… kind of. We are not identical and we have extremely different personalities, yet we are not as opposite as it may seem. Whenever we go out to eat it is very rare for us to order different meals, we have the same friends, the same taste in clothing, we finish each other’s sentences, and, most importantly, we are each other’s best friend. We have been for nineteen years and counting. No one truly knows the feeling of having someone who will always be there to feel laughter, sadness, excitement, anxiety, or anger with unless you have a twin. You plan your future’s like getting your first tattoo together, going to the same college and being roommates, and what dress you will wear as the bridesmaid in each other’s wedding as young little girls who have brains full of imagination and still believe in happily every after’s. As we have grown into young women together, it has become evident how crucial it is to have someone like this to go through all the hardships and adventures you come across in this crazy life. But in the end, I wish everyone could have a twin and appreciate the little things like having someone lie awake in the room next to you have a feeling you can’t sleep and come snuggle up in bed next to you or know that you are having a bad day so they do everything in their power to make you smile. That is a true best friend that I have never had to go a day living without. If it isn’t obvious by now, having a twin is a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
