When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.
- Alexander Graham Bell
I am a junior at NCCU, and I am pursuing a degree in Nursing. I currently work as a clinical support technician at UNC Hospital. I love helping and working with sick patients. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to become a nurse. It was not until my aunt passed away at the age of 25 from Hodgins disease. At the time I could not understand why she had to die so young, and why the doctors could not cure her. At that moment I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world in the way of nursing. After I graduate from NCCU nursing school, I plan on getting my master’s degree in Clinical Trials. I would like to ultimately head up my own research team.
I was born in Elizabeth City, NC but I have lived in Raleigh most of my life. My family has been very supportive of my dream of becoming a nurse and helping me along the way. I am also a single parent of a beautiful 8 year old girl. She has been my main inspiration in this journey of pursuing my education. I want her to know that no matter what obstacles life brings a person, you can overcome and succeed. I hope to be her role model in everything that she does.
While being a student at NCCU I have achieved things that I did not dream were possible. I have been accepted in to the honor society, I have a 3.5 GPA currently, while working full-time and part-time and being a single parent. My favorite biblical quotes that I has kept me this far is "I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
