Kit Hanley
Student, Writer, and Editor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
What’s good y'all, I’m Kit. I’m a student athlete living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. From the heart of the Midwest to the heart of the South, what a wild ride it has been. I graduate from Louisiana State University in May with a degree in Mass Communication, and a minor in both Business Administration and Political Science. I am a fan of all things sports, gourmet coffee, and Shaquille O'Neal. If I'm being up front about it, Shaq is my favorite human.
During my time here at LSU I have worked as a reporter for Tiger TV, LSU's student media broadcast organization, interned for LSU Sports Productions, and aired my own segment titled "#CatchingUpWithKit" while working as a marketing specialist for HydraGuard Sports Drink. Through these experiences I have been able to develop my editing, my writing, and overall on-air presence. This brings me to my present goal in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, with the hopes of one day working for ESPN's segment 30 for 30.
Being a swimmer for LSU has blessed me with so many opportunities. I was elected SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) Co-President for the year of 2020-2021. Through this role, I have had a direct hand in improving the overall experience for student athletes here at LSU. I have assembled various Mindfulness and Power Relaxation sessions for students during this stressful COVID period, advocated for female representation in the form of a statue, helped various teams register to vote, organized professional headshots for athletes networking purposes and so forth.
I consider myself a "granola girl." I live for the crisp air of the outdoors, the warmth of the sunshine on my skin, and walking barefoot. I enjoy meditating in the presence of crystal energy and visualizing achieving my goals until it's my reality. I am a self help book buff, a big hugger, and a personal hype man for my friends and family. What can I say, I got a lot of love and spiritual insight to give and I want the world to feel it.
