Kiti Kajana

Kiti Kajana is a Program Officer of Access to Essential Medicines Initiative of the Public Health Program at Open Society Foundations. Kiti previously served as a Director at Global Health Strategies where she managed accounts for various clients such as Rockefeller Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Before GHS, Kiti was a Program Manager at the American Cancer Society (ACS). During her tenure at ACS, Kiti also held a joint position with Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and was seconded to the NCD Alliance (NCDA). As the Advocacy Manager for the NCDA, in the lead-up to the UN High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases, Kiti served as a bridge between civil society organizations represented by the NCDA and UN Missions and agencies. Kiti began working at ACS in August 2005 as part of the Global Health Communications team. Kiti has also served as a manager for a capacity building program at ACS that trained more than 900 scholars in over 88 countries. Kiti currently is in the steering committee of the Young Professional Chronic Disease Network (YP-CDN), the board of Global Focus on Cancer (GFC) and a TEDMED Front Line Scholar. Kiti is originally from Albania and has lived in the US for 17 years. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish from the University of South Carolina and a Masters in Public Health with a focus on Global Health from Emory University.
