Kiwi Sailmaker, Martin started sailing at the age of eight in New Zealand’s designed P class dinghy. He competed at national level sailing P Class, Starling and Laser II’ s, while sailing the laser at international level.Martin started his sailmaking career in 1984 with a four year ‘canvas and saddlery’ apprenticeship with Hood’ and has since deployed his skills across the world, including several Admiral cups, round the world campaigns and as part of team New Zealand for the Americas cup. His roles included sail maker and sail trimmer in partnership with North sails international.Martin left the sail making industry and moved into the packaging industry selling firstly corrugated and carton boxes and more recently, account/project and international account management of high value capital equipment, such as labelling technology machinery servicing some of Europe’s largest multi-national companies.Since taking up caravanning with his family a few years ago, Martin has been repairing awnings and outdoor products in addition to supplying solutions to fellow caravaners.The sailing has also continued with Martin sailing his own National 12 and last representing Great Britain and Northern Island in the 2010 Commodores cup off the Isle of Wight.Taking this experience and supported by heavy-duty industrial sewing machines, Martin is now offering his services and solutions to a wider audience and looks forward to helping fellow outdoor explorers.
