Kennedy Jawoko

Professor, Journalist, and Consultant in Toronto, Canada

Kennedy Jawoko is a journalism educator, social entrepreneur, and researcher with over 20 years of experience in reporting, teaching, and international development. He is currently a professor at Seneca Polytechnic’s School of Media. His research focuses on global media development, peacebuilding, and China’s use of journalism to influence its image in Africa. Kennedy began his career covering the Lord’s Resistance Army conflict in Uganda and later worked for CBC Radio and Television in Toronto. He holds a master’s in political science from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s in journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University.

His PhD research at York University examines China’s global media strategies, a focus developed during his Knight Fellowship at Stanford University. Kennedy has also co-taught at Stanford and served as a visiting scholar at its Human-Sciences and Technologies Advanced Research Institute (H-STAR).
