Well, I suppose the best place to start is at the end of the story then work my way back.

As you probably have noticed from the title I am an atheist and have been for roughly 25 years now. If you're not an atheist, you might be surprised to learn that as an atheist I do not assume that God doesn't exist, but rather that everything in our world is based on evidence and that without sufficient evidence to support a proposition, it would be intellectually dishonest to give one's assent.

In other words, there simply isn't sufficient empirical evidence to justify believing in the supernatural, whether it be ghosts, spirits, souls, heaven, hell angels, demons or God himself.

Now, I wasn't always that way. I used to be, for 20 years a passionate, born-again Christian, who took a special interest in evangelizing people who were members of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses) and also the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons).

Christian Apologetics took up a great deal of my time. I diligently studied my Bible along with the writings of Walter Martin, Francis Schaeffer, Watchman Nee and others. I took my work seriously.
