Dmitri 'Zisl' Slepovitch

Dmitri ‘Zisl’ Slepovitch, Ph.D., is an ethnomusicologist, singer, clarinetist, pianist, composer, and singer/ songwriter; a founding member and the artistic director of the Litvakus and Minsker Kapelye bands, Yiddish language and culture instructor at The New School. Performed and wrote/arranged music for The Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre’s, Montclair State University’s, and Harvard Yiddish Players’ productions (The Two Brothers, Gimpel Tam, Shlemiel the First, Shulamis, worked as Music Director in The Adventures of Hershele Ostropolyer), as well as films, Defiance and The Burning Land; taught at seminars in Jewish studies and music worldwide, including BIMA at Brandeis University.
