Rafaela Stålbalk Klose

journalist in Malmö, Sverige

My name is Rafaela Stålbalk Klose and I am a Brazilian-Swedish freelance journalist with international experience in development work.

I am committed to amplify the voices of diversity by telling stories about identity, gender and subcultures – often with social justice themes. Additionally, I am committed to tell stories about critical global issues and to challenge traditional media narratives.

My work – published in the Mail & Guardian, Sköna Hem, Vi Föräldrar, Historiskan, MåBra, Skolfamiljen, mama to mention a few – have rewarded me with grants from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA); and from a Swedish foundation that has the purpose of supporting progressive women.

Previously, I have been involved in various social development work projects that have taken her across four continents – ranging from humanitarian disarmament in Latin America, children’s rights in Thailand to gender advocacy campaigns in Sub-Saharan Africa.

I am based in Malmö where I previously worked as a Reporter for Sweden’s public service broadcaster, Sveriges Radio. I have produced the P1 Tendens kortdokumentär “En värdig grav åt Svarta Sara”.
