Kayla Loving

I am from Gilroy, California also known as the garlic capital of the world. (Yes, the town smells like garlic.) I am currently a senior at Azusa Pacific University majoring in Global Studies and Sociology. In the past, I coached and did gymnastics and participated in creating my high school yearbook. In my spare time, I paint, make delicious food and desserts, write about my experiences and opinions, and read about or listen to other people’s encounters and beliefs. I enjoy learning about world religions, experiencing different cultures, and breaking down systems sociologically and anthropologically in order for sustainable change to be instituted. I also take pleasure in traveling to different countries. I have spent time in Japan, Cambodia, Mexico, Thailand, and Vietnam. I am interested in tackling social justice issues of every capacity. I firmly believe that every individual is of great worth. No person should be treated as if they are less than human because of his or her sex, ethnicity, gender identification, ability, etc. In the future, I hope to work with a human rights organization abroad. I desire to see every person reach their full potential and I have dedicated my life to bettering the lives of others.

"Because you are important, everything you do is important. Every time you forgive, the universe changes; every time you reach out and touch a heart or a life, the world changes." -William Young
