Koketso Mogoboya
Student in Johannesburg
I am a third-year Bachelor of Education student at the university of Johannesburg, specialising in English and History, with a genuine passion for education and a commitment to helping learners develop confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills.
My love for teaching started with the straightforward belief that every learner should have a teacher who recognises their potential before they do. I was driven to education because of its capacity to change people's lives, open doors, and give young people the self-assurance and information they need to take charge of their own destiny. As W. B. Yeats say, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." This statement sums up the kind of teacher I want to be, one who encourages learners to think critically, ask questions, and cultivate a lifetime love of learning.
The best classrooms, in my opinion, are those where learners feel appreciated, challenged, and inspired to think critically rather than just memorise facts.
