Koketso Anwinner Thoka
Student and Volunteer in Johannesburg
I am a third year Bachelor of Education student at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. I believe that sciences should be taught through inquiry and discovery, where learners learn by asking questions and conducting hands-on experiments, rather than passively memorizing facts. I am convinced that every learner can succeed in science when lessons connect to real-world issues, particularly those facing South African communities.
Outside academics, I am passionate about maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle through regular gym sessions and playing soccer, which teaches me discipline and teamwork. I am currently completing my third year in Bachelor of Education. I have completed my teaching practicum, where I observed experienced science teachers and began to design and deliver my own lessons in local high schools.
