Konstantinos Athanasakos
Musician in Berlin, Germany
Konstantinos Athanasakos has appeared throughout the United States and in the major European capitals as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and lecturer. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Indiana University/Bloomington and Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, collecting numerous competition awards, international prizes, foundation scholarships and postgraduate degrees with the highest distinctions, while embarking on an international career that brought critical acclaim, sold-out venues and adoration from audiences. Today, equally acclaimed as a pedagogue and composer, he resides in Berlin Germany with his wife and daughter, where he coaches gifted students as well as professional musicians in nearly all musical genres, after being on the faculty of the Berlin University of Arts.
Something of a cult figure in his native Greece, Mr. Athanasakos has been equally praised by some of the most distinguished Greek musicians, politicians and thinkers while expressing himself highly critical and often controversial views of what his native country is in reality and what ought to be ideally, always seeking a balance that could prove beneficial for both the country and its people.
