--- About me ---

"When I was young I wanted to go to the moon / but I've only made it to Milwaukee," begins my poem So Long to the Good Old Moon. The poem reflects my philosophy about love and finding contentment in life - even when things don't work out quite like you planned.

I really did want to be an astronaut when I was young, but I was way too nearsighted for NASA standards. Luckily, I also wanted to be a teacher, a country music singer, an architect, and... well, something different each day of the week.

Years later, I still have widely varied interests. But after more than 20 years in insurance analytics and technology, I'm now focused on my work as a poet and advocate for arts, democracy, afternoon naps and other good causes. I'm the principal founder and curator of Poetry in the Boro, a monthly reading and open mic series, and am serving a 2nd term as poet laureate of Murfreesboro, TN, as part of the city's new Cultural Arts Laureates program.
