Koushik Mondal

Hi, I am Koushik. I hail from Kolkata, India. I am pursuing a doctoral degree at the department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, IIT Kharagpur under the guidance of Dr. Balagopal G Menon. I have completed Master of Technology (M. Tech.) from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India in 2019. My Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) is from IIEST Shibpur (Formerly known as B.E. College), West Bengal, India in 2016.

My current research interest includes Supply Chain Management, Unorganized retail, Supply Chain Modeling, System Dynamics, consumer behavior, and agent-based modeling. Throughout my academic journey, I have cultivated a passion for understanding the complexities of supply chains and exploring innovative solutions for optimizing them.

Before embarking on my PhD, I gained valuable industry experience. Following my bachelors, I worked at Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. (https://www.haldiapetrochemicals.com/) in Haldia, India as a Management Trainee, where I contributed to various operations management functions. Then after my master's, I joined Bizbrain Technologies (https://bizbraintech.com/) in Hyderabad, India as a Supply Chain Consultant, where I applied my skills to enhance supply chain processes for clients in diverse sectors. Both of these experiences have given me a balanced approach with industry as well as consultancy exposure.

Outside of work and research, I am passionate about drawing, 2D animation, bike riding and football. I have played football at the departmental and college levels, and I’ve also completed my 7th year in Drawing from Pracheen Kala Kendra (https://pracheenkalakendra.org/). Creativity is something I enjoy as a personal outlet, and it helps me approach my work with a fresh perspective.
