Kovie Biakolo

Writer, Multiculturalism Scholar in New York, New York, United States

Hello, my name is Kovie Biakolo, and upon meeting people, one of my favourite questions to ask is "What was your last great societal conversation?"

I ask that question because I am student, scholar, and love of culture, identity, and narratives.

I'm a Senior Writer and Cultural Advocate at Thought Catalog where I write, edit, and produce stories on culturally relevant current events, socio-political commentary, and unique perspectives of the human experience. (Yes, I also write listicles and not-so-serious things.) Additionally, you can find clips of my recent writing at Hello Beautiful, where I was a former contributing writer for a year and half.

In March 2016, my second collection, "Let's Agree to Disagree: 13 Civil Dialogues On The Culture Wars" was published. The book is a collection of dialogues and interviews with academics, writers, activists, etc. on current cultural conversations, from multiculturalism to police brutality .

My graduate education is in Organizational and Multicultural Communication, where my thesis focused specifically on the discussion of race and Blackness in digital media.

To contact me about any of my public writing projects or to give me your feedback or commentary, you may reach me at [email protected].
