Kimberly Dixon

Kimberly began dancing ballet when she was 6 at a studio in North Vancouver. In the years to follow she added Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Acrobatics and Musical Theatre. By her graduation in 2006 Kim had completed all her I.S.T.D. (Imperial Society of Teachers in Dance) Modern exams, I.S.T.D. Ballet to Adv. 1, I.S.T.D. Tap to Adv.1 and she completed all her A.F.S.A. (Acrobatic Federation of South Africa) acrobatic exams to Jnr student teacher.
Upon graduating Kimberly persued a career in Modern and Contemporary Dance at Simon Fraser University. During her studies Kim had the chance to train with many well known instructors and choreographers such as Rob Kitsos, Judith Garay, Cheryl Prophet, Megan Walker-Straight, Henry Daniels, Marla Eist, Justine Chambers, Joe Laughlin and Mark Haim.
In 2010 she had obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts as a Dance Major. The years after her graduation Kim had the chance to study with Lamondance, a Brazilian and Canadian Pre Professional company based out of North Vancouver, and on scholarship with Edam a contact improv company based out of Vancouver. Currently Kim has been working on her teaching qualifications. In January 2012 she completed the final teaching exam for acrobatics, she now holds her International Advanced Associate Teaching Certificate with A.F.S.A. She is now working towards her Associate Diploma in Modern Theatre with I.S.T.D.
These days Kim spends the majority of her time at Pro Arté Centre teaching, I.S.T.D. Modern, Contemporay, Improvisation, Modern Repertoire and Acrobatics, and creating pieces for upcoming shows, competions, and galas.
Throughout Kim's dance career she has had the chance to travel the world. In 2007 she travelled to Brasilia to participate in the International Seminar of Brazil where she had the chance to compete to modern solos and train from various international teachers including company members of Chicago's Deeply Rooted. In 2009 Kim trained at the University of Legon, Ghana, in African Dance, and Music. There she had the opportunity to perform for the Canadian Embassador. Most recently Kimberly participated in the American Dance Festival held in North Carolina. There she was inspired by many well known American teachers and choreographers.
