I have been a writer and storyteller since I was a little girl. But it was author Tim O'Brien, in his novel "The Things They Carried," who drove my aspiration of becoming a true wordsmith. His incredibly descriptive and emotionally impactful account of the Vietnam War forced chills down my spine, leaving an everlasting impression on me. I yearned for the ability to write in a manner so compelling, it would transport the reader into the story, just as O'Brien's words had done for me.

I spent seven years as a journalist, from writing for the campus newspaper and freelancing during my undergrad, to chasing down sources and breaking stories as an intern, reporter and ultimately an editor at GateHouse Media New England.

I believe wholeheartedly that human beings should never cease learning and growing, which I why I chose to leave GateHouse Media to pursue a master's degree in public relations and advertising.

I will graduate from Suffolk University in Dec. 2014 and will be actively seeking a full-time position in marketing, public relations or communications.
