Katie Quigley

San Antonio, Texas

17 years and young, I’ve seen the entire world; well half of it. From the cherry blossom trees of South Korea to the bluebonnets flowers of Texas, I am a daughter of a great army solider. My family and I have been traveling since I was two years old. I was born in Louisiana, but raised on the island of Honolulu, the calm serenity of Seoul, the deep hills of Clarksville and lastly San Antonio. With my diverse travel experience, I’ve learned to love meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds, and seeing what people have to offer. I’m a huge people- person, so hanging out with friends and family is always a super fun time. I enjoy doing outdoor activities like hiking, riding my bike or going for run. One my favorite hobby is to kayaking, because physically its give me a good arm workout; mentally it cleanses my mind from negative stressors. I believe that in order to balance oneself, one must be able to take the good from the bad and learn from that experience. As Co-captain of the varsity cheer team, I’ve learned to become a better a leader both in and outside school. It taught me to be discipline, patient, and work well with others. These skills have prepared me for the greater challenges that life has to offer. In the future, I plan to major in pre-medicine and minor in business. Long term, I would like specialize in dermatology. Having a minor in business, I would like to one day, own a business that specializes in skin care and treatment. The skin is the largest organ in the body and being a dermatologist one can go from the microscopic level to the macroscopic level. Through dermatology, I would have the knowledge and resources to create organic products. Being 17 isn’t so bad, because growing up in a biracial family and being exposed to many cultures has given me a more global view of the world. I am prepared to approach life and its challenges through more than one angle.
