I am a Scholar, International Trade and International Business Executive with a special emphasis on the Southern African and East Asian market. As a young African I graduated from the university of Witwatersrand Johannesburg South Africa and worked for Alexander Forbes Botswana, Yarona Media Holdings and founded GC Premium water an ICE, a ice solutions company specifically for events both corporate and social.

I was then awarded the Chinese government scholarship to study an MBA in 2012 where I graduated top of my class with a Summa Cum laude distinction. During my studies I saw the huge gap between what we as Batswana perceived of China, the products we were getting from China and the difference of what China really is and the products it make and exports to different parts of the world, particularly South America and Europe. I felt we could absolutely get better quality products and much more competitive pricing, it was a matter of establishing solid supply channels and improving clear cut and far relations between the two countries on a person to person level rather than just on a diplomatic level.

In this regard I started an initiative named BONA China that would serve as a platform for Batswana students and nationals to come together with Chinese companies and organisations that are interested in investing in Botswana. This platform would assist them in networking , creating synergies, stale business relationships and chart a way forward for a prosperous and sustainable future for the relationship between the two countries.

The BONA China inaugural conference was held in 2013 in Nanchang City China with the Ambassador of Botswana to China His Excellency Sasara George and the Embassy staff in attendance and part of the guest speakers. It was also attended by delegates from Chinese companies that have a presence in Botswana and Africa including Batswana nationals in China. It was a huge success with over 80 delegates in attendance and was followed by the 2 conference of its kind in 2016 in Wuhan City China where a whole bill of companies that want to expand to Botswana made presentations and showcased their products to Batswana Nationals in attendance. We are currently in talks to make the Botswana Edition of BONA China in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s republic of China that is situated in Gaborone.

This special edition will serve as a platform to be able to give Batswana and Africans direct access to safe secur
