John Kraus

Based in the Washington, DC, area, John Kraus is a Software Engineer and Web Developer (motto: "Me code u long time."). He earned a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering from George Mason University and two Master’s Degrees in Business from the University of Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, graduating a semester early. As a college freshman Kraus won election to the Eau Claire County Board of Supervisors at age 18; was elected to the Eau Claire City Council during his junior year; worked on several successful political campaigns; and served a six-month Congressional internship.
Kraus was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2002. Before pursuing a full-time career in information technology, Kraus completed over $3 billion in high-quality institutional real estate investments including a $120 million first mortgage financing secured by the National Science Foundation Headquarters, Arlington, Virginia; financing for Boston Properties' $300 million acquisition of the Prudential Center mixed-use development in Boston; and a variety of regional and community shopping centers including Natick Mall, Natick, Massachusetts; Maine Mall, South Portland, Maine; and the Mall at Rockingham Park, Salem, New Hampshire. In the New England region of the U.S., starting in 1990 and continuing over a 15-year period, Kraus originated a portfolio of commercial and residential mortgage loans having a zero-percent default rate despite the severe economic downturn. The regional office support staff of a national real estate investor unanimously elected Kraus Favorite Manager.
Working as a consultant, Kraus plays an active in role in supporting our community, family, and warfighter heroes both at home and abroad.
