Kris Kidwell
Kris Kidwell was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. Born to a single mother, he did not have the easiest life growing up. Throughout his early years of school, he was often bullied and picked on for being smaller than the rest of the boys in class. At the early age of 6, Kris embarked on his first life journey. Enrolling in Kung-Fu kept him busy most days after school and on the weekend. By the age of 13, Kris was the youngest member of the Kung-Fu school to receive a full black belt, but started to struggle shortly after that. Conflicting ideas arose in his head, debating on what path he wanted to pursue in the future. Having a sister who had been dancing since he was born helped to make the decision easier, and soon he took up dance. Although hating it at first, he slowly grew to accept the challenge and difficulty of training 8 hours a day 6 days a week in a ballet studio. By the age of 14, Kris was enrolled as a student in the Baltimore School for the Arts, but was soon kicked out, due to a haunting history of school absence and unattractiveness. The following three years of high school proved to be difficult, with training and school having to be balanced out, but in the summer of his sophomore year, Kris was asked to attend the Washington School of Ballet. 2 years later, he auditioned for the Orlando Ballet Company, and following a summer of internship, was accepted. During that year, Kris danced many different roles for the company, and was able to pursue and advance in ballet and many other styles of dance. While performing with the company, Kris also received and completed a full apprenticeship at the Black Chapel Tattoo Studio in downtown Orlando. After that year, Kris had a very important decision to make. Go to school for 4 years and get the education he needed, or continue pursuing the professional career. After much time of hard thought, he decided to move closer to home and study at SU, hoping to advance further and eventually create a better professional career after graduation.
