Krishna Sharma, a dedicated public health professional and gender activist from Dailekh, western Nepal, is making significant strides in improving maternal and neonatal health in rural communities. He was featured as a Women Deliver Young Leader in 2018 for his contributions to women's health and gender equality, and he is a Chevening Scholar for 2025/26. Krishna brings a wealth of experience in health sectors and passion to his role at One Heart Worldwide in Dolakha, Nepal.
In his previous roles, Krishna has focused on uplifting the well-being of indigenous communities by advocating for health policies and budgets that strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery systems. He has been instrumental in supporting local governments to formulate and implement health programs tailored to the specific needs of rural populations.
Krishna's work goes beyond policy advocacy; he actively engages with communities, training and empowering local leaders, government representatives, and health workers. Through his efforts, maternal and neonatal health services have been revitalized, with notable improvements in institutional deliveries, health sensitization, and community mobilization.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including geographical barriers and the impact of COVID-19, Krishna remains undeterred in his mission. His dedication has led to tangible results, including increased demand for healthcare services and strengthened local governance structures.
Krishna Sharma's transformative work serves as a beacon of hope, driving positive change and improving the lives of mothers and babies in rural Nepal. Currently, he is pursuing MSc. Global Public Health at the University of Greenwich, London.
