I’ve been in love with computers and technology since I was little. It started when my brother got a Nintendo Gameboy and showed it to me. I was amazed at how many things this little box with buttons could do. I nearly instantly became attached to the Pokémon he caught in the game “Pokémon Leaf Green.” I used to go to him every day after school, asking if he wanted to play today so I could watch. Eventually, he let me play (totally not because I started whining to our mother that I wanted to play), and I somehow grew more fond of it. I became too fond of it and bit my brother when he wanted it back so hard he had to get a tetanus shot, but that’s a story for another day. Since I learned about the Gameboy, I have always wanted to learn more about technology. I started to learn how to operate the family computer just by watching my dad use it. I started googling things, and my ambition to learn grew even further as I learned more. I started programming not much after that. The 5th grade was my first actual exposition to coding. It was a simple platform that I’m sure most of you have heard of called scratch, where programming was gamified with cute little pictures of animals and creatures catered towards the younger audience. It only furthered my curiosity. I went to learn real programming languages like Python using the internet. I still use Python to do random projects to learn. With these new AI tools like ChatGPT, there is much more to learn, including ways to apply these tools in different fields. Everything I learn about technology excites me because it just reminds me there is so much left to do in this field.
