Krista E. Hughes

South Carolina, United States

Krista is a Constructive Theologian whose work draws insights from process and feminist thought, critical theory, and the world's various wisdom traditions to reimagine classic Christian symbols for a postmodern, pluralistic milieu.

At Newberry College (South Carolina) she serves as the inaugural director of the recently established Muller Center, a center providing programming and resources related to moral discourse, vocational reflection, and civic involvement. Previously she taught in the Theological Studies Department at Hanover College, where she offered courses in contemporary theologies, gender studies, and religious pluralism.

She is author of several essays, including “Intimate Mysteries: A Sensible Apophatics of Love” in Apophatic Bodies: Infinity, Ethics, & Incarnation (Fordham University Press, 2009) and “Beauty Incarnate: A Claim for Postmodern Feminist Theology” in Revista Anglo Saxonica (2013). She is currently working on a book-length manuscript, Venturing Grace, which explores questions of cosmology, gift, corporeality, and aesthetics in the movement of grace and implications for human community, eco-justice, and interreligious engagement.
